Slow Food First Coast was established in 2007 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization committed to strengthening the connection between local food, strong farms and healthy communities on Florida’s First Coast. As the local chapter of an international movement founded by Carlo Petrini in 1986, Slow Food First Coast is a proud member of Slow Food USA and joins a global network of chapters in more than 160 countries worldwide who are working to transform the way we produce, consume and enjoy food. We aim to counteract the effects of fast food and fast life.

We also work to save disappearing food traditions and traditional food products, to help people rediscover the joys of eating, and to understand the importance of caring where food comes from, who makes it and how it’s made. We believe that: the food we eat should taste good; it should be produced in a clean way that does not harm the environment, animal welfare or our health; food producers should receive fair compensation for their work; and that everyone should have access to good, clean, and fair food. We value food produced locally, and recognize its use. We welcome you to become a member or donate to our cause.
